Kayaking North Vancouver Island Straits Solo

There was no fog in the morning. I kayaked along the shore to Bere Point and back, hoping to see the orcas, with no success. After returning and finishing the lunch, I hiked the western part of the Bere Point - Malcolm Point trail. I then returned to the camp along the shore, enjoying the views.

On my way back I met a deer. After observing me for some time, it moved away from the shore, into the bush, letting me pass.

Only then did I notice a fawn foraging in the bush. The family reunited and moved away through the thick undergrowth.

After returning to my camp by late afternoon, I had finished the dinner and listened to the forecast on my VHF radio. There was nothing drastic or new: fog in the morning, wind building up in the afternoon. Then I had packed everything I could for the next day departure and went to bed.
